Sweetgrass Hydrosol
Botanical Name: Hierochloe odorata Aromatic Strength: Mild-Medium Shelf Life: Up to 2 years if stored properly (refrigeration is recommended). Reported Properties, Uses and Applications: Sweetgrass is amongst the dried botanicals that are traditionally used by Native Americans during smuding rituals. Sweetgrass is thought to cleanse a room, ground it, and make the space sacred. Unlike smudge burned in bundles, sweetgrass is generally braided into sections that are approximately 12" in length. Little documentation is available about Sweetgrass Hydrosol. I traditionally use the hydrosol in place of burning braided sweetgrass before meditation to help me focus upon clearing negativity from my space or at times when I want to cleanse and purify a room. Safety Information: Rosanne Tartaro of SunRose Aromatics advises against using Sweetgrass Hydrosol topically.
