Easy Aromatherapy Shampoo Recipe

Aromatherapy Shampoo Recipe

I was torn on what title to give this recipe because this recipe isn't made from scratch, and I'm not trying to be misleading. Making a liquid shampoo base from scratch can be quite complex and can take quite a bit of experimentation. Instead, we begin by working with an unscented shampoo base and add essential oils. Very easy!

Ingredients

  • 7 fl. oz. Unscented Shampoo Base (sellers of natural products and aromatherapy products sometimes sell SLS-free unscented shampoo bases that are formulated for the addition of essential oils)
  • 40 drops Lavender Oil
  • 10 drops Rosemary Oil
  • 5 drops Ylang Ylang Oil
  • 8 oz. Bottle

Directions

Heed the safety precautions for each essential oil that you use and avoid essential oils that are contraindicated for anyone in your household that may use the shampoo.

Add about 7 fl. oz. of Unscented Shampoo Base to a mixing bowl and blend in your essential oils. Mix very well to ensure that all of the essential oil is evenly distributed into the shampoo base. Use a funnel to pour your shampoo into the 8 oz. bottle.

To Use

Use as you would use a typical shampoo.
